Helen’s Garden

This year has been an experiment in gardening. Helen designed and constructed a set of raised beds. She then visited with a local organic farmer who supplies some of the higher end restaurants in the region to get some tips. Next came the caterpillar plague which erupted into the largest hatch of butterflies this area has seen in years. She is convinced that her garden single-handedly contributed to the majority of flying beauties. Now we are in the thick of grasshopper hell.

We have decide that one raised bed is for the arthropods and one is for us. She is finally getting to see some of the fruits of her labor and I’m getting to savor them…. 3 types of tomates, onions, potatoes, watermelon, beans, peppers (some very hot ones), cantaloupe, squash and of course zucchini.

It’s all good.

admin - Justin – Truth be told, I had to lay in the dirt/weeds/grass to get some of these and still scratching from the chigger bites – gotta love Texas! Next time draggin’ out the tripod might be more comfortable in the long run…
