Street photography with Day Clicker – Buenos Aires

I am fortunate to have a wonderful wife who let me spend a day exploring BA today with a photo guide, Paloma Herb, from Day Clicker photo tours. What many people don’t realize is that when you see images in a travel magazine or the National Geographic the vast majority of the time the photographers are using a “fixer” – someone with local expertise and often language skills to get them into situations where truly unique images can happen. Today my guide was a native of BA, has lived in Palermo most of her life and works as a professional photographer. It was a challenging day in some regards with temperatures hovering ~ 50 degrees and being a Monday. No tango dancing in the streets… But Paloma was able to get me into some very interesting places.

For example the light was really spectacular at the Botanical Gardens. We met a retiring auto body shop owner who built race cars in the past and had art just hanging on the garage wall. He stated that someone from the New York Times had been by his shop recently to shoot images and interview him. Then we toured much of Palermo Soho, visiting a very small (one-person) barbershop meeting a delightful gentleman who was very warm and gracious.

In all it was a great way to spend a day and see a very unique side of BA with the guidance of a local native that is rarely found. If visiting here I would highly recommend the Day Clicker tour.

admin - Dave – it was different visiting a place where it is “winter” when in Texas today it was ~ 100… a beautiful city with wonderful people. I would highly recommend it, but set aside several days to travel to Mendoza, which is the wine region of Argentina. I wish we had time to do that…

Amelia – many thanks to you and Paloma. I had a wonderful time seeing BA through her eyes!
